"Practical Engineering" did a video showing some of the Federal Building Codes that do not allow fabric for French-drains. The building plans use washed-sand instead b/c fabric in nearly all studies will clog within a decade. You also can't use fabric for weeping holes in ocean retaining wall engineered designs, & it's b/c fabric has no studies to show it will not clog so washed-sand is used.

so what are you trying to say? that french drains can't be made without this fabric? why wouldn't layers of rocks inside the cavity of a stack of cinderblocks work?
