What are they thinking? Ford Escape Purge Valve debacle

Looks like Ford is flipping the bird to mechanics and customers, this thing is ridiculous, even Ford Fans can agree...Probably.

I have a 2017. What does this purge valve do exactly? What are the symptoms it's bad?

My 2010 crosstour has it come from a tube in the tank that follows the fuel rail, up the firewall, into the small purge valve, with another hose that goes into the intake manifold. Very simple

My 2017 focus ST has the same problem and the dealership won’t fix it even though it had a recall. I’m going to replace it myself, is it difficult?

Could I just cut out the valve and jerryrig a new one in? Using rubber hoses and clamps?

Just to be fair, those EGR valves can’t work solely on vacuum when you have a turbo-charged model. All that extra piping is so that the turbo boost can create a Venturi effect and still get the exhaust vapor into the intake by pushing it instead of sucking it.

My 2020 escape has 48000 miles and the purge valve is fucked. I'm getting it fixed and getting rid of this piece of crao.

I used to hate doing the transmissions in these things they're not so bad after about 30 or 40 of them lol still sucks to get to the converter bolts 💩

My wife drives a ‘16 Escape 2.0 turbo.
The “engineering” in the engine compartment and around the cowl has me shaking my head…
(Try doing a battery service or coolant reservoir top-up 🙄🤬!)
