Sukhoi Su-57 - RUSSIAN STEALTH FIGHTER?

The Sukhoi Su-57 (Russian: Сухой Су-57) is the designation for a stealth, single-seat, twin-engine multirole fifth-generation jet fighter being developed for air superiority and attack operations. The aircraft is the product of the PAK FA (Russian: ПАК ФА, short for: Перспективный авиационный комплекс фронтовой авиации, romanized: Perspektivny Aviatsionny Kompleks Frontovoy Aviatsii, lit. ''prospective aeronautical complex of front-line air forces''), a fifth-generation fighter programme of the Russian Air Force. Sukhoi's internal name for the aircraft is T-50. The Su-57 is planned to be the first aircraft in Russian military service to use stealth technology.

The fighter is designed to have super-cruise, super maneuverability, stealth, and advanced avionics to overcome the prior generation fighter aircraft as well as ground and naval defenses. The Su-57 is intended to succeed the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force.

The prototypes and initial production batch are to be delivered with a highly upgraded variant of the Lyulka AL-31 engine used by the Su-27 family as an interim powerplant while an advanced clean-sheet design engine, the Saturn izdeliye 30, is currently under development. The aircraft is expected to have a service life of up to 35 years. Its first flight took place on 29 January 2010.

Hope you enjoy!!

I’m glad the commends section isn’t just hating on the F-22 or F-35, and we’re all just here to agree that the Su-57 is a badass jet

one thing I'd like to add....

everyone knows that this plane with Pulse Lasers is good for high scores on Fleet Destruction.

Correction and Addendum:
1. First Phase engines do not use Saturn 117S but 117 designation. (yes this is confusing. 117S is for Su-35S)
2. Second Phase izdeliye 30 engines is somewhat of an analogue to YF120 using variable compression with one less fewer stage and more mature material technology
3. PAK-FA was designed from the ground up to have low wetted area air frame reminiscent of the YF-23 program or what could have been F-23 EMD(hence why YF-23 fanboys and Northrop engineers affectionately think of PAK-FA as its spiritual successor). This allows the plane to either(can't have both at the same time) have super low drag which allows higher super-cruise speeds or have longer operating range(remember that Russian planes have to cover vast distances because of the country's huge land area!)
4. PAK-FA uses two LEVCONs for additional control authority during super short take off distances(400m) and yaw authority to supplement thrust vectoring and all moving horizontal stabs
5. Plane was designed from the ground up with sensor fusion as its centerpiece having an array for 3 x band AESA(nose and cheek) and 2 L band AESA(mounted on the slats but not used in the traditional sense though), a bunch of electro-optical sensors(with varying combinations across different prototypes). They are also designed to be fully integrated in network with other defensive assets such as S- 300 PMU-3 system.
6. Russian stealth doctrine is optimized for frontal engagement using shoot and scoot tactics. As mentioned, ground attack is sort of an afterthought. Stealth aircraft such as F-22 and F-35 were designed for deep penetration of air defenses(useful for invading another country *wink wink*. PAK-FA, on the other hand, is conceived as the name suggests as a front line fighter for intercepting other planes. Another reason for this is *cost, readiness and maintenance* with the lessons learned from their US counterparts(you know what I mean).
7. Unlike other 5th generation fighters, PAK-FA uses "3D variable geometry intakes" instead of fixed S-ducts which would theoretically give it wider optimal performance across schedules.
8. Part of the reason why the plane has received negative press from politicians is because of a push for UCAVs(competing for funds, duh!)

Russian have been always been extremely practical people...if they do produce something sleek and beautiful you can bet it is functional and with a reason behind it ... nice video thank you!

I really do love this beautiful jet. Just stunning to watch fly. Anybody agree? 👍🏻

So, the US F22 build in the 90's is considered to be a 5th generation fighter but the Russian SU57 build in 2017 is not considered a 5th generation fighter ... We know, we know, everything made by the US is better and the other country's are building shit.(tired of these 3th grade propaganda)
PS. SU57 is a 5.5 generation fighter... one of the many features that make it a 5.5 is the 360 scanning and jamming radar system.

06:50 Another reason the engines are spaced so far apart that you didn't mention is to allow a rear-facing radar to be installed in the tail. Note the radiation warning stickers at 0:37. I believe the Su-27 variants also have a rear-facing radar, and the Fullback has an even larger one.

To be honest. I see more of the Northrop YF-23 in the Su-57 than I do the F-22.

it IS a 5th gen fighter, it has stealth, such as serpentine intakes, internal weapons bay, RAM, reduced frontal cross section, everything you'd want in a stealth fighter, in my speculation i'd say it's stealthier in the front then the F-35 as it has a much lower profile. Even if the stealth is bad it is STILL a 5th gen fighter, no matter what.

No it is not very expensive. Mayby for india? yes, But it costs around the same as a SU-35 or MIG-35 even though these are expensive prototype units, once it enters mass production the price will go down. For comparison you can buy 1.5 SU-57 for 1 F-35.

And it's safe to assume it can supercruise at low altitude, the mig-35 and su-35 can too, even the su-27 from the 80's could nearly reach mach without afterburners (it could supercruise at 3500m). It uses the same engines except the SU-57 is also lighter.

The designers also claim it can fly autonomously, however is not designed for it.

Please do Mi-8 / Mi-17 models, I know they're not as sexy as fighter jets but they're a integral part of the modern battlefield. Thank you Matimus.

I don't know what's up with Russian plane designs, but they're kinda good looking and "sexy" if we were to use the word on people
