Dan Patlansky - live beim radioeins Parkfest 2016

Beeinflusst wurde der südafrikanische Blues Rock-Gitarrist Dan Patlansky von Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, bis hin zu den Rival Sons. 8 Studioalben hat er bereits veröffentlicht und in Blueskreisen ist er schon lange kein Unbekannter mehr.

So spielte er 2014 vor 64.000 Johannesburgern im Support für Bruce Springsteen und letzten Herbst gab es eine erfolgreiche Tour mit Joe Satriani. Dan Patlansky baut nicht auf Coverversionen aus der langen Bluesgeschichte, sondern komponiert und textet seine eigenen Songs.

I live down the road from Dan in South Africa. His small performances at cafes and small concert halls and such are absolutely amazing. But his quiet solos are what makes him truly special. He basically turns his guitar to zero volume and the whole crowd is so quiet you can hear everything he plays like he is right next to you.

saw him open up at a Satriani concert here in the UK last year, he's a magnificent performer who obviously feels what he plays, his albums don't do him full credit, could do with more of his soloing on them, but it's refreshing to find someone with their own sound, thanks for this video

Dan Patlansky is in the hall of fame of the best blues rock guitarists and artists alive and playing today. He is in the league with Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gale and Warren Haynes. That is hallowed company. The way he smoothly navigates from rhythm to his leads--off the charts terrific!
