Thanks for the tips on welding cast aluminium. I did some last week using a spool gun. After your explanation of the structure of cast, I understand why my first effort failed but after veeing it out and welding it again it work. ( for how long who knows). Enjoy your work.

My die grinders use to sound as loud as yours, until I stuffed the exhaust port with some pieces of scotch bright pad. I don't really notice much difference in power but they are a bunch more quite. I have done the same thing to the IR air drills I have, some of them had a plastic cover over the exhaust port and I added an extra screw to support the plastic.
Nice video, thanks for sharing.

I actually saw this video on Abom's channel. Well done ! Very informative and very funny. I too was a Firefighter. I retired from the Chattanooga Fire Dept. in Dec. of 2013 with 28 years of service. I have set up a small shop including a Grizzly G1005 benchtop mill/drill, Horror Fright lathe that I converted to 14 " bed. I also have a blast cabinet, belt sanders and 5 tool boxes, all in a 10'X12' building. I spent most of working career working in fab shops so I can relate to just about everything that you talk about. I've done Mig, Stick, and Tig. I personally have a Linclon 225 AC tombstone welder and a Campbell Hausfield 70 stick welder (almost useless ). I've spent a lot of vacations in Orlando. I have family there. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit some day and we can trade Fire Dept. t shirts. Keep up the good work, and stay safe.
