Thank you for this info! Just started on Fiverr about a week ago and my very first buyer was a scammer. Thank God I didn’t fall for it

Thanks Nick, I'm new to Fiverr and have already had 3 scam/spam phishing messages. It's frustrating for sure. I searched fiverr scams here on Youtube and yours was the first to pop up. Thanks for the verification, wasn't sure if my listing was wrong, or not even asking for a service I have listed, something totally different. Oh well, glad my "spidey" senses were up and I politely declined and reported them.

I actually like getting those messages because it helps boost my average response time

It comes from both sides apparently! I'm currently dealing with something very sketchy from a buyers point of view... Was working with a really great artist that made a good clean delivery the first time. I loved it so much that I wanted to ask for their services again for a family memeber. Then they asked I cancelled the order and send it to a whole other account because theirs was blocked for misconduct between sellers. At this point it felt obvious but I fell for it. Luckily I took every single precaution like taking screenshots and keeping tabs on the whole thing. Fiverr takes scamming very seriously and I love it.

something that i have noticed is that many new buyers are more likely to get more scam offers. Even though there are some cases where that is not true as popular fiverr freelancers have more publicity, but new buyers are more vulnerable because they are of course new to being a fiverr freelancer. I'm not trying to say that they are unexperienced but they undeniably are more vulnerable to scammers.

Its funny, because as a buyer - I have to research the sellers info they are posting to make sure “its not a scam” and waste of my time.

Also, never take a "trust is essential" as an excuse for why they can't be direct with you about their gig.

Exactly like one of them had me excited to do a really big project only for them to tell me it's on telegram and I even asked them how many words they want me to translate only for them to reply that they don't know and knew right away this's a scam like this's such a waste of time assuring them that I can do the job have the right qualifications it's really devastating to get this kind of messages.

Thank you very much for this helpful video. I do photo editing and right today a lady messaged me with a photo asking me if I could remove an object from a photo, remove background and change hairstyle of the person in the photo. Trying to provide a personalized service, I made the huge mistake of sending her samples asking which style she liked. Of course, she downloaded all the photos and never replied back.

Could you maybe do one about sellers who try to scam buyers via fake gigs?

One thing I didn't understand (which ultimately made me google "fiverr scammers") is that I'm a poet and lyricist/writer and got offers from fiverr (the "hey, its a match!" stuff) or creative writers looking for a writer to do their portfolio. Well, if you're a creative writer, how come you need a writer to do your porfolio? Also, there were files attached to the offer which I was weary of clicking. Dunno if these are scams?
