The JTM45 is just so pleasing to the ear. The Superbass sounds great too. Much more headroom on the Master Lead but the JTM45 wins all day for me

Think the super bass just won, but my three favourite amps ever, so tough call!

I’ve got a 70 Superbass, 79 2203 and a 71 1987 and play them all through 68 Pulsonic Greenbacks. This is a great video and highlights the high mid focus and more unforgiving top end of the MV Marshall.
IMO the only metric where the 2203 outperforms the others is aggressive rock at higher Preamp settings or taking boosts for classic metal and more modern styles. But for medium crunch and lower gain stuff the 4 holers(and an attenuator) perform better. More midrange(and warmer in the midrange) sweeter high end, more articulate in the bottom end, more character and responsiveness.
I’ve had the 2203 for 10 years and if I played primarily late 70’s/early 80’s hard rock and classic metal I’d probably keep it for another decade, but I’m more into late 60’s to mid 70’s low to mid gain stuff so I think I’m gonna move it on. 😢

At around 45 years of playing, my tastes have mellowed. Having owned an 80's JVM, and a 20**<?> JVM, I'm into less gain these days, and this makes me all the more excited about my incoming JTM45. I still have an Origin 20h, but I'm just not all that jazzed about it, but given its cost, will keep it around for more experimenting.

For anyone else experimenting with speakers/cabs, I've got several options, one of which is the 2x12 vertical w/ the Celestion 70/80s (actually, I have two to run a 4x12 option) and they're pretty tight and bright. I'm hoping they pair-up well with the JTM pretty well given its warm nature. I'm not opposed to a speaker swap though. I've heard lots of good things about greenbacks, blackbacks, and scumbacks with the JTM. This could get fun!

Ha! Of course it will get fun!

The JMP sounds monstrous, perfect for 80's Metal.

that's a spicy meatball. I liked them all I think the JTM45 sounded somewhere in between the highs of the superlead and lows of the super bass. Nice one

All three sounded great. I preferred the JTM45 overall. A little more buttery. The Superbass was bottom focused, 2203 the top and the JTM sat in the middle. Thank you for the comparisons.

Great video. I prefer the Super Bass. Very big sound. A bit like my Super 100JH

2203 has that high mid bite and the biggest lows. The JTM 45 and Superbass sounds really similar, the JTM probably being the most versitile and best pedal platform. The voicings are all more similar than not though.

2203 rules but I'm biased as I love mine especially at 11!!!

Did you guys say you recorded using an amp sim from 2 notes? I just got the Captor X and will be going from a JTM into it when it's finished being built and mailed to me.

The tone with those P90’s on Riff Raff was REALLY good. Very cool axe on that one.

Think JTM = Angus, JMP Super Bass = Malcolm 😉

Master Lead all the way! Beside the obvious master volume it has a much more responsive eq that makes it alot more versitile and you can, if you have an attenuator, get almost any Marshall tone out of it!
