How to Drive on Country Lanes - UK Driving Tips and Tricks

Driving on country lanes and narrow roads across the world and in the UK can be incredibly daunting, with animals, bad road conditions and oncoming traffic and big farm vehicles to watch out for.

Keep your eyes up, scanning and looking out for a few vital signs on the roads is what's needed to really be safe out there on the UK's many narrow lanes.

Drive safe out there and make sure to stay safe! Cheers - Alex

Ello lads! Anyone have any close calls from driving on country lanes? I've had to back up half a mile because of a tractor before, NOT fun. More videos to come this week :D

I had a hgv coming towards me on a narrow country road! Had to go on the kerb to avoid it! He was also doing around 40-45mph coming round a corner! Scared wasn't the word for it!!

Good informative video mate, quick suggestion. Can you do a video on modifying your first car at 17 and how it affects your insurance because I'm 17 on the 2nd of August and I plan to do little things like colour coding bumpers, painting wheels, tinting windows and putting on face lift bumpers and lights on

+Paynos really handy tips dude, I know country roads are a lot more demanding than city driving. In future I'd like to see videos on how you personally deal with bad drivers and road rage on the whole but also include videos on any mods you are going to do to your car

Driving along country lanes can be really fun especially when their are very few cars on the road and its a nice clear day!

I had my first lesson yesterday. I'm already in the know with part experience but I'm better than thought. My instructor was testing me on all my abilities. First it was right out onto a semi busy roundabout (not one stall at all yet lol) then onto b roads going 30 to 40mph. Then onto narrow country lanes going 30odd. Then through a city centre in rush hour. Then to finish off on a carriage way going 55mph. Only bad habit so far is, when coming to a junction for a stop, placing my hand on the gear stick before shifting to first. He did mention only shift down if your actually going to stop or edge out. Then cluch shift observations then pull out. My instructor is good with a high pass rate. But he is ex Sas and also a hgv instructor and pass plus and specialist skilled driving courses for police etc. So win win on the chilled but skilled information I can gain. He said I'm going to do well. Being cautious but not overly and vice versa with great observations skills.

I was on the countryside roads for the first time on my driving lesson the other week, not the most comfortable ride but definitely keeping your speed down is a big one. I mean I went around a corner and there was a farmer working on his gate and he had a big van with him, so I was just going as slow as possible past him. :)

I used to be terrified of fast lanes but there actually really fun now.

I'm glad you mentioned about the national speed limit ? Absolutely ludicrous & dangerous that anyone should even think of attempting high speeds on such lanes, but there's always one that does and they are the ones that cause the grief as they come up behind or meet head do i want to die or kill someone else.

Grew up in the country so I'm good with them. Technically the more you think about another car coming at you the more nervous you'll be. And lol loads of people cut corners where i live. Have to watch tractors though as their wayy wider. Typically slow down to go past them

At least country lanes have wider kerbs/banks and are not too terribly busy. I once had to reverse 800 yards on a narrow city street with cars parked along both sides, because a gate at the end of it was closed. That was not fun.
