The 2021 F1 championship fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton exploded at the British Grand Prix, with the pair coming together on the opening lap, and Verstappen sustaining a 51G impact with the barriers while Hamilton bounced back from a penalty to win the race and slash the Red Bull driver's points lead. They keep taking each other out for the rest of the year and Charles wins it with a tractor, or Lando giggles his way to the title.

I think Bottas is at fault for the collision. Probably what was in Toto’s email to Masi.

After seeing the internet drama after this, it seems if the internet was around during the Proust Senna rivalry, the internet would have broke.

Hamilton has gotten a bad habbit of getting understeer whenever a Red bull is trying to go around the outside ngl....

I was quite gutted when the crash happened, thought we were going to get a good few laps battling at every corner!

I will always remember Hamilton's comment from years ago...
"If Max is on your right, you go left!"

Max simply got a taste of his own driving style in the 2021 Silverstone Grand Prix... he only momentarily stopped turning in, only to turn in even harder... he definitely played a role in the collision.

This is honestly the most civil comment section, that is talking about the incident.

Back in 2018:

"Ultimately, when someone destroys your race through an error and it's kind of a tap on the hand really - they're allowed to come back and still finish ahead of that person he took out - it doesn't weigh up, " said Hamilton.

Mercedes has an interesting aero package
The car always seems to understeer when a RB is on the outside

I do agree with Scott's views that Lewis Hamilton had enough of Max Verstappen aggressive driving.

Right up to the crash, it was the most exciting half lap I've seen in years. I'd rather see these two champion-grade drivers 'have at it' than not. Obviously I don't want them to get hurt, but the joy of watching two drivers dog-fight every corner was so refreshing.

Lots & lots of non F1 fans talking about this today.

Max’s team radio after the crash was one of the more brutal and concerning ones I’ve heard. Ouch! Glad he’s OK

Why is Max praised for “Not backing down” but Lewis is a monster for the same mentality… imagine the adrenaline and the speed that everything is happening. The thought of backing out is easy to make sitting at home on the couch

“The stewards reviewed video and telemetry evidence, ” the stewards said. “Cars 33 [Verstappen] and 44 [Hamilton] entered Turn 9 with Car 33 in the lead and Car 44 slightly behind and on the inside.

“Car 44 was on a line that did not reach the apex of the corner, with room available to the inside.

“When Car 33 turned into the corner, Car 44 did not avoid contact and the left front of Car 44 contacted the right rear of Car 33. Car 44 is judged predominantly at fault.”

I’ll be amazed if they don’t collide again, they’ve spent most of the season wheel to wheel, just hoping it doesn’t decide the title

Lets be real, had this been the other way around, we'd have been going on about how Max's driving style is "aggressive" and "elbows out" and the fallout would be wildly different

“Being a racing driver means you are racing with other people and if you no longer go for a gap that exists you are no longer a racing driver because we are competing.”
