Heard this at a lecture the other night so I thought I’d repeat it: telling someone suicidal or with depression to just be happier is like telling someone with asthma to just breathe. You have to help them and have special ways of healing them.

I remember once I woke up at 5 in the morning and couldn’t go back to sleep and it was still dark outside, so I went out in the backyard where I laid on the deck and just stared at the stars, and at the time this was the song I had been listening to pretty frequently so I made such a deep connection with this song and that morning.
