With China's National People's Congress underway, the government has set out what many are calling an achievable target for economic growth in 2023. The 5 percent objective is the lowest in over three decades and comes as Beijing has lifted most of the restrictions set up during the Covid-19 pandemic. Also in this edition, we look ahead to a day of nationwide strikes against pension reform in France. Finally, iconic chocolate brand Toblerone is forced to change its logo because of strict rules regulating "Swissness".

05:15 - don't know if they still make them, but do you remember those HUGE Toblerones they used to sell in airport duty free shops about forty years ago? They were about half a metre long! Massive!

Putin should be more worried about China, not NATO. A more dangerous neighbour. Oil and gas fields in Eastern Russia, yes?

Wind and solar energy combined with battery storage are safer, cleaner and cheaper than fossil fuels or nuclear power.

It probably will be around 5% in 2023, but we'll never really know since they will just manipulate the official numbers and we'll all be left guessing based on verifiable numbers like exports. Chinese GDP will keep coming down by .2-.3% per year either way, just like it has for the last 20 years.
