She left him. He never stopped loving her. He let her go because she wanted to leave and just be friends. But that showed just how much he loved her, by giving her what was going to make her happy. Not necessarily what made him happy. But he moved on with a wife. Just never forgot his love from many years ago. It's more common than you can imagine. ❤😢😊

This song exudes the one element that I totally love in a song. And that is passion! The singer loves this woman so deeply that he can never get her out of his heart. Even now, married for years, the passion he has for his former love never dies. He clearly loves his wife but the flame is still hot and eternal for his former lover. In that final verse, he cries the, “oh no!”, because he knows it’s not right but concedes the fact that nothing can extinguish his undying love for the lady he sings about. Such a bittersweet yet truly incredible song! One of my all time favorites.

Forever fan of Ambrosia, and u should know they were actually a prog band who eventually found that a prominent soul vein ran through their collective body.
But many of their prog songs were actually brilliant.
A song from their 1st album, Holdin’ on to Yesterday, remains one of the most beautiful songs ever… and features gorgeous vocals by David and the guys, and a solo with electric guitar and violin that is heartbreakingly beautiful. Y
