Piatti Project #2/12: Diezig plays Caprice No. 2

Показать описание
This is the second part of my Piatti Project in which I will learn and record all 12 Caprices by Alfredo Piatti and share the resulting videos on my Youtube Channel. Because almost all of Piatti's Caprices are new for me I estimate it to take between 2-3 years for me to complete the project.
The Caprice No. 2 which I hurried to record while the christmas tree was still installed is a choral-like piece which gives the cellist ample opportunity to practice doublestops, string crossings and legato bowing. I found it not entirely easy to learn by heart as well.

Swiss Cellist Sebastian Diezig is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. He studied with Pierre-Bernard Sudan, Marc Jaermann and finally completed his studies with Thomas Demenga with a brilliant soloist diploma in 2008. Diezig is price winner at numerous competitions, most notably the International Cello Competition Lugano (3rd price) and the International Cello Competition Zagreb (special price for the best interpretation of the compulsory piece, both in 2008). Since 2010 he is co-principal cellist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra with which he performs in the famed KKL, the Lucerne Theatre and frequently in major music capitals of Europe, Asia and South America. As a soloist he has appeared with orchestras such as the Basel Symphony, the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Symphonic Ensemble and many others and at renowned festivals such as the Lucerne Festival, the Young Artists in Concert Davos, the Sine Nomine Festival Lausanne and others in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg. Sebastian Diezig also composes. Among his works are the virtuoso solo pieces „Top Gun Variations“ (2012) and „Blues“ (2007) which can be heard on his Youtube Channel. One of his current projects is the video recording of all the Piatti Caprices (also available on his Youtube Channel).
