I wonder if the properties of the tyre expansion were tuned the wheels could act as a cvt for rc vehicles. No expansion at lower rotational speeds meaning standard torque, transitioning to high rotaional speed with lower torque but higher vehicle speed. Not that useful for electric vehicles but for combustion based vehicles it would keep the engine within it's powerband.
