Forgive Me │Spoken Word Poetry

I'm sorry doesn't seem like enough sometimes after we've hurt someone and denied that we were in the wrong. I wrote this about one of my closest friends and dedicate this poem to him, but to others I have hurt too.

It's one thing to forgive, it's completely different to forget. I would never allow someone back into my life who decided to rip it apart and walk away with no explanation. Maybe they will learn from their bad mistakes when they get to the next source. Then again, maybe the next source will see how damaged they are and not want them either.

I feel like no matter how much forgiveness someone gives you, you still truly feel lost. I hurt the one I love and I want to make it up to him so badly, but the fact that I hurt him echoes in my brain like a bell that has been rung and is still ringing out despite the blow already been taken to it. I feel like it is eating me up like a buffet of guilt and I don't know why I did it or why I didn't stop myself, but seeing him cry those tears made me hate myself. I don't know what possessed me or what he done to deserve it, god knows that I'm not worth it. I don't deserve his smiles or his tears, he gave me one more chance but it is that I fear. I love him so much but what if that isn't enough, I feel like I've lost him, even though he's tough. I don't want to keep him and be selfish and needy, because he has a heart of gold that should be let go of freely, I don't deserve his touch or his voice or his kindness, how could I be so horrible, turned to the dark side with my blindness.
