I try for my Gram, Chapman. So a month after our wedding we found out she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and unfortunately passed away a month later. So seeing the strength she had in those final days really inspired me to step outside of my comfort zone. This is my fifth year doing it, I'm still a horrible swimmer, but I'll do it for her. I'm trying for the women in my family. My grandmother died from breast cancer and my aunt just finished her last round of chemo, so this is for them. This is to show that it's not gonna take all of us, we're gonna fight this. For me, I'm new to WEX, and when I first came in Tri for a Cure was an opportunity to get involved and to meet new people and to just get exposed to a group of women who want to give back to the community and you know do something exciting on a Sunday morning. To have an organization that fully supports women, and is committed to giving back to the community and helping us fight for the things that we believe in, it's empowering, and it makes me so proud to be a WEXer. For me, community is huge, as part of both like what makes me tick, and also what I want out of a workplace, so to see executives involved, and you know even seeing folks volunteering and directing traffic from WEX this morning was just a great way for WEX to be involved in the community. How amazing is it that we have 26 women come together and support each other, empower and lift each other up and do something. So I've made some amazing relationships with WEXers across the business through doing this that I never would have met, and I like to try to give back now and help others that are new to doing this Tri.
