I mean that throw was high, and since he threw it so hard it had enough spin and velocity to almost rise as it was in flight. It was pretty incredible. Fastest recorded throw in mlb history. De La Cruz is something special.

It passes the eye test… I’ve never seen a ball thrown from short that fast I’ve been watching baseball for 27 years

I'm a Barry Bonds fan. I'm a Giants fan. I grew up in Maryland watching the Baltimore Orioles too but this Elly De Cruz is the truth. This man is a certified baller!!!

There is a lot a raw talent here. The kid has the tools to be a great player.

Hit the glove should have been caught E3 for sure. I know it’s high but that was in his glove.

He threw it higher so if the first baseman missed it wouldn’t send him to the shadow realm.

Love to see him pitch in a blowout game.

Maybe take a little off if the first baseman cant handle 106

First baseman might be rethinking his position.

A baseball going that fast tent to change path it clean the first baseman didn’t have time to react you can see the ball touching the glove but that throw was to fast back in the days my good friend Rafael furcal had to make adjustments to his throws to first base because of the speed he used to throw!! La cocoa is going to have crazy numbers in his career god bless and keep him healthy as all mlb players 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

It was a lil high, but not a bad throw at all. 1st base bareley needed to jump and it hit his glove. I think he just timed the catch wrong, understandably

Elly De La Cruz, a shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds, was reported to have thrown a ball at 106.9 mph. However, it was later announced that there was a glitch in the recording system, and the speed was not officially recorded.

First basemans gonna need a catchers mitt.

If he doesn’t hesitate and just makes the routine play he probably gets the out with a more accurate throw into the 1B chest but closer to 95MPH instead

Keep Elly at way he can show off his remarkable arm strength and speed‼️

Focus on getting the out and not breaking stat cast records. I think a throw under 106 would’ve sufficed

Let’s stop saying “stat cast era” nothing before it counts, Nolan Ryan didn’t throw 108, fat Ruth didn’t hit a 580 foot home run. Stop pretending.

Yea but there’s also a 2-3 step running start when you throw from the infield pr outfield so not a fair comparison to pitchers tbh
