Neyzen Yusuf Paşa was a composer and virtuoso of the Turkish musical instrument, Ney. He was born in 1821 in the harem of the Beşiktaş Mevlevihane in Istanbul. He was the son of Şeyh Said Dede and the grandson of Şeyh Mahmud Dede. He joined the Mızıka-i Hümayun in 1840 and became the head Neyzen (Ney player) of the Beşiktaş Mevlevihane after the death of his father. Yusuf Paşa is known for his saz (Turkish lute) compositions.
