Best car upgrade ever! Nite Ize Steelie Orbiter Dash Mount

Hands down the best upgrade I have made to my car! The Steelie Dash Mount is perfect—it holds the phone securely, and at any angle. I have been using the first version of this dash mount for over a year in my car, and now we have the new, updated version for my wife’s car. This updated version has a larger base so there’s more surface for adhesion.

Hands down the best upgrade I have made to my car! The Steelie Dash Mount is perfect—it holds the phone securely, and at any angle. I have been using the first version of this dash mount for over a year in my car, and now we have the new, updated version for my wife’s car. This updated version has a larger base so there’s more surface for adhesion.

The phone side of the mount is new and improved as well. It has a super-slim metal plate that mounts to my phone. The magnetic cupped mount that has always lived on my phone can now stay behind in my car when I prefer. Extra plates on different phones and cases means I can use multiple phones with my Steelie and not need a new “socket” side each time.

There is nothing that is not to like about this dash mount. It is inconspicuous when not in use, so there’s no large pad sticking out of my dash. I am a huge Steelie fan, and have many of their pieces, both in my home and our cars.

I just got the same one several days ago. Dang, I wished I bought one a whole lot sooner. This model is better than I could have ever expected. Can't see myself EVER going back to those clamp style holders.


Also like the bigger metal that sticks to the phone that allows me to position the phone a bit more to one side or the other or up and down more. The plus cell phone I have never falls off or moves on the rotation ball on its own. What a great invention.

The magnet at the back of the phone is batter version. I been using this since it first came.

I bought two of the vent mount versions. Both of them failed. Pulling the phone off almost always results it the grip on the slipping off. If I tried to tighten them down, the little pivot bar bends and will break. The manger is very strong but the vent Mount sucks bad.

Yes I love this also I had two in my 2011 Cadillac Escalade to hold my iPad it was perfect it held my iPad to my dash perfect my iPad did not move at all

Hello does the magnet work if you place it behind the case?

So if you have a MagSafe case on your phone, you don’t need the metal disc on the phone the case will stick to the magnetic disk that fastens to the steely ball, correct?

Can you use a wireless charger when the thin metal plate is on the back of your phone case Or does the metal plate prevent a good connection?

I got the original, but after watching this I kind of wish I'd got the orbiter. Can I still be considered cool with the original?
