Without sounded like I’m blowing smoke up your keester your doing great stuff. I know your a busy man but I think we would all like to see you on your channel doing these tutorials more often. If for nothing else than the ferocity of the beard.

Great lesson, for me it’s another way to connect the dots on the fret board and it bust me out of ruts. Same notes but it sounds different. Well done!

I found your videos with Baxter and have been binge watching. I’m glad Baxter mentioned your channel. I’m so glad I found your lessons. Finally somebody explains theory in a way I understand. Thanks.

JR, your lessons are so cool for a player like me. I’ve been a beginner guitarist since the late ‘90s. Life just happened: work, house, wife & kids. Anyway, I’m exactly where I left off since my last lesson. I try to just learn songs, but that makes me just a strummer and I’m not a great singer, so I need to be a better player. Thanks for these little tips that just open up a whole level of understanding. This lesson is just as mind blowing as you slide lesson using the open G shape on the top 4 strings. Keep them coming (no pressure, lol.) As a teen in my 50s I still hope to grow up to be in a blues-rock band.

Peace,
JR

Yes yes yes ... when Casio don't give me my Johnathan fix ... I'll get it 1 to 1 ... thanks for the mini lesson (even if we know this stuff, a review is always good)

I’ve been stuck in my melon for decades trying to stay out of that rut so throwing a foreign pattern at me to confuse the digits is always a good thing. Bravo brother.

It cannot be understated how important it is to simply attempt the same notes in a different spot on the neck.

Like Jonathan says, just by trying a different shape causes our fingers and our brains, I guess, to phrase licks and melodies in a fresh way.

Thanks again for the video.

Thanks for the lesson Mr Robinson, I like the way you approach things. You make it seem easier to grasp some basic theory and alternative ways of looking at scales.
Hope all is well and you are out playing shows.

You just gave this old man an ah-ha! I do wonder about those bends/hammers/pull offs and slides though. I can do them, but they don't sound as good as when you do them. If you ever get bored you could do a segment on those ya know. Thanks Jonathan!

Nice pentatonic thoughts. I've figured out some of those once I figured out and was comfortable enough to get out of the box. On a side note, bought some magslides, they are light and a couple of tonetuga fuzzes on your recommendations.
