10 Poorest States in the United States 2024 including top 10 States with Highest Poverty In America and why these states are poor.

In the United States, there is a considerable disparity in economic growth and prosperity between various states. Some states tend to be much poorer than others, which is largely due to a range of factors such as their geographic location, access to resources, and economic policies. One of the most significant reasons for the disparity between wealthy and poorer states is the difference in economic policies implemented by individual states.

Some states have business-friendly regulations that attract large corporations, while others may have higher taxes and more stringent regulations that discourage economic growth. This often leads to a concentration of wealth in certain states, while others struggle to attract investment and create jobs.

I'm 76 years old now and during my lifetime I've lived in two of the five richest states (California and Pennsylvania) and I've lived in two of the poorest states, and I can tell you that the poorest states are the most friendly places I ever lived, and the richy rich places were the most unfriendly places I ever lived. There are numerous verses of scripture that attest to this truth, which is that where there is a lot of money there is a lot of misery.

I worked in a BPO company and one of our products/services is internet. I wondered why we are not available in some states. Thanks for this video, I found out that I guess 8 out of 10 of these states were not in our list of states offered with our internet service. I guess one of the reasons is that people could hardly pay for their bills.

As a native Tennessean, I am almost not surprised we made the top 10. But with education, there are many well educated people here but the employers won't pay for that education and experience. At the same time we have so many new people moving here it's hard to tell if this is a poor state. Development has sharply increased in Nashville driving up rent everywhere so it's hard to afford and contributing to the higher homeless population. No one can afford the high rents now. My opinion is these new residents are working with pay they receive from jobs they had before moving here. If had to make ends meet on the pay tennesseans are use to, they 'd run back to where they came from or seriously risk being homeless.

GOP policies at work in these poor States have led to these bad household economies, poor education and inadequate infrastructure.

Trickle Down Economics at work.

Your comments in the beginning about the danger of falling into homelessness sure hit the nail on the head. I was homeless for 16.5yrs. Fortunately S.S. kicked in. My monthly allotment is currently at 64% below the 2023 Federal Poverty Line, but I'm doing well, by good fortune, with only very modest expenses. Kind regards!

Ky has a lot of rich horse racing industry! Rich people who don't want anything to change . Rich get rich and poor get poorer. Thats why Mitch McConnell remains in office.

Tennessee is number 11 now and it’s gotten richer over the years. South Carolina has made some big strides too. I feel like Tennessee and South Carolina are actually improving while the other states are stagnating. Northern Kentucky is prosperous but Eastern Kentucky in the coal mines is suffering.

I think it’s pretty amazing how Tennessee was in the bottom 5 when I was born and now it’s actually the 11th poorest state.

Try working for 50 years and end up making $1313.00 per month on SSA. Lopsided and uneven I'd say.

They may be poor compared to other states, but they are still rich 😀

I think there's alot your not telling ; when NAFTA was passed just about every small town factory in Kentucky was closed and most relocated to places like South America where the cost of living is much lower than here in the US and they can get away with paying their laborers cents on the dollar not to mention the fact they no longer generate tax revenue to help with the country's interstructure or that workers who can't necessarily afford decent vehicles were suddenly forced to either commute or relocate many miles to get to a job, in essence the people running the show aren't doing much to help. I still wondering who's side they're on???

Policies and leadership (or lack thereof) plays a major role in the economic strength of a state.

The states mentioned might be poor, but not all the residents there are poor too, there are also people living there are rich.
