How to connect AWS RDS with MySQL workbench

In AWS, database is created using RDS
If you want to configure the database using local machine you can use MySQL workbench.

I could only select "Default" from VPC security groups - only that was appearing. But this setting did not let me connect to RDS DB server from my web server. After DB ws provisioned and "available" I had to select from "Security and network" -> "Security group" -> "default (...)" -> choose "sg--blahbhah" and then select "Actions" dropdown -> "Edit inbound rules" -> "Source" -> Anywhere. It then worked.

For those who are struggling to connect still check your Security Group Inbound rules and "You can add or edit an inbound rule in the security group. For Source, choose My IP. This allows access to the DB instance from the IP address detected in your browser."
