Our responsibility towards the Arctic | HE Freddy Svane

HE Freddy Svane, Ambassador of Denmark in India speaking at the SaGHAA
Webinar 2020 talked about the huge individual responsibility which rests on
each and every one of us. He acknowledged the fact that the changing Arctic is
going to open new economic avenues that will invite global interest and
participation. He urged the global committee to emulate the co-operation
model of Antarctica and engage in peaceful co-operation. He said that the
The Kingdom of Denmark will launch a new Arctic strategy next year, so that will
send some signals as to how Denmark is doing, and how they see the future of
the Arctic. He was also extremely happy that there will be an Arctic scientific
meeting in Japan next year, to discuss the research opportunities in the Arctic.
He was very happy to be a part of SaGHAA and he hoped to see declarations
turn into political responsibility and individual responsibility.
