Gujarat Maritime Board ( GMB usually does not permit a visit to the ship breaking yard for tourism Visits are only allowed for academics & research and other such type of studies . However you can try and approach GMB and Alang Ship Breaking Yard Authorities for permission and if you get one then you can visit .

Also Alang has India's biggest second hand market , where you can get almost everything.
