2 things come to mind here with this.

1. It does not matter, at all, whatsoever.
2. They’re saying this to throw the audience off because the leaks, rumors, and theories are Constant and the movie just started filming.

If scream fans would just let them make the movie and stop trying to analyze every last little thing that happens, they wouldn’t have to jump through hoops and lie to their fans.

If i had to guess on the situation if the pay dispute rumor is true maybe it went down like this: Patrick Dempsey probably got a bigger paycheck to come back for Thanksgiving 2 and he probably figured maybe he could get a bigger payday for Scream 7 since his character in the Scream movies is quote on quote bigger and more popular so he asked for a bigger paycheck and Spyglass most likely said No and then they replaced him with Joel McHale

I like Joel McHale a lot... I've actually been planning a "Community" re-watch, but I can't picture this. At all. Maybe because I've never seen him in a non-comedic role.
I wasn't exactly INVESTED in Dempsey or Kincaid, but bringing him back made sense.

This annoucement def sounded like an April Fools Prank!! I just hope with Joel McHale as a new character, this doesn't mean that he's the killer bc that would totally suck for Sidney's husband, who she has kids with to be the killer, or even get killed off.

So here’s the thing IF and only IF Patrick just couldn’t do it because of scheduling conflicts okay. It happens. BUT if we find out they didn’t even want to work to get Dempsey back and felt he was easily replaceable for this role. My confidence for this movie just went down by a lo and I’ve been pretty hopeful for this film

I'm convinced that patrick Dempsey is going to be in this movie as the killer from Thanksgiving and realise he's in the wrong movie. That would be very meta even for a scream movie

When I just read that, I was horrified. How can you make such a stupid decision? If there is no good reason for this, in my opinion this is an unforgivable decision for the fans and could have a negative impact on the success of the film. I just hope that the film explains why Sidney's Man isn't Kincaid.
