They were never scared of the frigate, they were scared of what it represented: the Royal Navy. And that was something they did not want to fight, especially whilst being so close to the UK, they’d be alone and totally outgunned. Not to mention the RAF

My god.

To everyone saying it was 'international waters', the Irish Sea is British and Irish waters. A warship of another nation CAN be prevented from entering a nations waters

Nope you're mistaken. It was the Irish fishermen that scared them off. They couldn't handle the mighty irish fishermen

I highly doubt that a guided-missile cruiser and 2 destroyers were sacred of a single frigate. 😂😂

It's a shame people don't have a clue what this conflict is really about.

NATO frigates are meant to act as escorts in ASW and AAD, their poor harpoon armament would be little comparison to offensive-built ships

The gaps too small to pass between Northern Ireland and the UK mainland without intruding into territorial waters.

When you ask why these Russian warships would be frightened of 1 British warship you are ignoring the rest of the nearby armed forces.

Fast movers carrying ship killer missiles from multiple directions.

Would you want to be the Russian Bismarck off the coast of Britain surrounded by enemies?
I really doubt that!

They were smart to reverse course.

So you said....I wasn't there to witness it....I strongly doubt it.

We came across an udaloy destroyer while on deployment. Did some flag signaling and exchanged a small boat of sailors to show each other around. We had one Russian gunner's mate on our ship who translated for us. Really cool experience. Hope Russia and the u.s. unfuck their foreign policy and gets along someday.

Woo Hoo...🙄

So they delayed Russian service men from returning home? What exactly did that accomplish? Am I supposed to be impressed?

Considering the horror story that was the state of the mocova flagship.
I dread to think that the lancaster might have been the stronger in that encounter

Smart move. A long way from home, with British air support minutes away.

that is surprising, normally Russian ships are notorious for keeping time to the minute for their travel plans... if they were ordered to take a specific route or maintain a certain time-table, they will alter their speed to accommodate that... it was a weirdly known thing in the North Sea where they would keep to GPS coordinates and just constantly alter speed to keep their times spot on instead of.. you know, just shifting plans based on conditions.
