Happy Birthday Otis's I grew up in Southern Indiana in the 60's.and 70's. I started playing bass in 70 and connected with the Toler Brothers and some other great but unknown musicians. The Allmans and specially Dickie was our hero's, love hearing these stories. By the way I'm 70 and still gigging in the great NW. Keep up the good work, brings back some great old memories..

Dickie took a liking to my woodwind playing one day in 1978, Ohio somewhere. He was very quiet. He and I then entertained two bands in the dressing room, he played acoustic and sung old spirituals, and I accompanied on clarinet. On parting, grabbing my lapels, said "I''m like an elephant boy, I never forget". It was a gentle experience, two voices paying homage.
