Building on the success of our last 15 foot solo canoe, this latest 14 footer is quick, nimble, and a ton of fun on flat and moving water. It's still a bit small for me, but overall I'm really happy with how this one turned out.

I wish you had plans for a conoe with a flat back transom for a small trolling motor to use with a light lithium battery. It would be awesome for a pan fisherman.

Excellent video ! Showcasing the most recent build in so many different situations. Really happy to see that old Cherokee still pulling for ya !
So psyched to try any canoe. And listening carefully to know what to look for. I even bought some 13’ cedar to make a nice light boat. Also I’m now friends with one of your students from Ottsville Pa. I can spot one of your designs from literally, half a mile away !

Metal oxide in the resin will give you better uv protection. Iron oxide copper oxide titanium oxide. They convert light to electrons which they lose to oxygen. The metal oxides have to be on the surface.

Fantastic! Hugely enjoying the progression of these canoes and your detailed descriptions of both the build and your thoughts driving the design. Increasingly certain that one of these is in my future (hopefully my near future). Video just needs a bit more insect swatting... :-)

So if you're bigger, chubbier, like me you'll need a longer canoe. I've been at least 200 lbs since 1975 and that is still my goal at 67. Lighter is better!
the most difficult self-rescue I've done is in an Owen wood/glass racing shell and I quickly realized it was best to swim the boat to shore, drain and get in. Most people don't realize how much rolling out of the boat is disorienting. I used the old scuba technique of blowing bubbles to figure out which way was up. At 6 in the morning there is only a little light and you want to be sure which direction is up.

Interesting point about longer boats having more wetted surface, but doesn't a longer boat also have more lbs of buoyancy, and therefore ride higher in the water (have less draft) for a given paddler/cargo weight, and therefore not really have more wetted surface because of the shallower draft?

Great video! I see in this version that you have moved away from the sheer blocks giving more sheer curve fore and aft, and lost the recurve shape to the stems. Is it possible with your system to still go that way?

Any plans for a SOF Outrigger? Wondering where the hull shape would be based from.

What is the weight of the canoe with the sail, and also the weight with too 12 oz skin?

Really excellent Craftsman and these works of art are seriously let down by using Dupont ballistic nylon ..Forever chemicals Dupont spoil the ecological theme for these boats and cordura/Dacron are made by the same company..I look forward to a Dupont free Cape Falcon creation some day.
