METCO 100mm Idler (FAIL) Weapon X Motorsports (FAIL)

1/21/22 ***( My opinion)
Why I think WeaponX and Metco SUCK!
The latest is WeaponX customer service is abysmal. It would literally take 24 hours or more for a response from email for almost every attempt, then more waiting. A restock fee applied of course because it was returned even though the part failed and I didn't want a replacement. Store credit was possible, but with the long waits to get answers, I gave up. I wanted a timing chain but need it before I die so I had to look elsewhere. Forget the phone, they don't answer it and voicemail is always full. It seems there is only 2 people for the whole show over there and one of them only responds by email...if they respond at all.
Metco was horrible to deal with as well. After speaking with Rick at Metco, He told me that there is no torque spec for this bolt. They expect their customers to know by "feel" how tight this fastener should go and that there is a notice to add blue thread locker to the bolt. He then proceded to tell me that because I was young, I didn't know what I was doing! LOL! I have gray hair!
Both reps attitudes were pissy because they didn't want to hear that their product and service stank. Needless to say, I won't be patronizing WeaponX or Metco again...To bad, I just bought an ATI lower pulley and the Metco looked pretty nice. Probably would have broke, but looked nice.
These are my opinions, hopefully your experience is better. - Mark

So I ended up looking at the DSX and the Dedicated Motorsports. Both are quality units and come with torque specs! Hey imagine that!. I bought the DM because it was a 110mm and their relocation bracket also moved the upper idler up 5mm for even more wrap.

Not a big metco fan. I have that same idler. I also have their Hub and pulley kit. When I installed the Hub and pulley, the pulley had a slight wobble. I had to put my snout in a lathe and true up the face of the Hub to make the pulley run true. The Idler has a slight wobble but seems to be doing fine. It's almost like their stuff is made in China.

Something is not right about that. (shakes head)

Ive run a 2.45 with an 8.66 and had no issues with slip using the stock stuff. If you think youre seeing slip, get a smaller belt.

I just read your testimonial. Seems like customer service is in short supply due to Covid.

Wow it's alarming to see this happen, I've also got the Metco idler on my ZL1 but I've had mine installed for 8 months so far with no issues, but on installation I torqued mine to 30ftlbs and used a heavy amount of high strength threadlocker. This still makes me nervous though, it shouldn't be machined so thinly on that bolt bushing.
