Unity Prom celebrates students with special needs

Unity Prom is an effort by Kaimuki High School educators to bring two student populations together in one celebration.

Nice humanizing piece to provide another context/perspective on the amorphous/highly politicized idea of "inclusion." Helps to illustrate importance of learning socializing and interpersonal skills for connection, confidence/self esteem, acceptance, nonjudgement, and hitting milestone/goals in growing up...for everyone. Prom is expensive--the kind heartedness of acknowledging and aiding access is noteworthy especially with the collaborative power of the many entities involved.
