Mahshid Sahizadeh
holds a Master's degree in Architecture from the
University of Tehran's Fine Arts Faculty and a PhD in Urban Design with
a focus on Urban Restoration from Newcastle University in the United
Kingdom. She has worked more than two decades as architect and urban
designer in consulting engineers, FAZA scientific and cultural institute
and cultural heritage organization. Since 1997, she has been teaching
and researching in several universities as a lecturer and then as a
member of the faculty; and presented the results of these researches in numerous conferences, books and journals, mainly in the field of urban regeneration, public spaces and restoration of historical areas. As a consultant to the Renovation Organization of Tehran from 2010 to 2015, she is among the pioneers who were involved in establishing & managing local offices for providing services to facilitate the renewal process in degraded neighborhood.
Mohammad Saeid Izadi was born in Hamadan, Iran on May 29th, 1968. He studied at the University of Tehran in Iran and Newcastle University in the UK. Izadi received his Master's degree from Tehran University, where he studied architecture between 1988 and 1995. He received the Research of the Year 1996 award from the Iranian Ministries of Culture and Science. He started his professional career in 1995 as an expert in the Naghsh-Jahan Consulting Engineer. In 1997, he continued his career as a General Director, Office of researches and studies in the Iranian Ministry of Housing and Urban Development until 2002. He then attended Newcastle University and gained his PhD in 2008. His submitted thesis was entitled: "A Study on City Centre Regeneration: A comparative analysis of two different approaches to the revitalization of historic city centers in Iran". He started as an assistant Professor at Bu-Ali Sina University, School of Art and Architecture, Urban Design Group in 2008. He was appointed to the position of the deputy minister of urban regeneration between 2013 - 2017 and the deputy minister of architecture and urban planning between 2013-2017 and the deputy minister of architecture and urban planning between 2017-2019 at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. His current professional position is as a member of Iwan Company’s board of directors. Iwan operates in the study, planning, design and management in architecture and urban design fields.
He teaches in the areas of urban regeneration and conservation with focuses on the quality of life, public space improvement, and the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. Furthermore, he is working to establish a model for participatory design and tools for engaging communities in the design and planning process. He has notable scholarly publications in the field of Architecture, urban conservation, urban design and urban regeneration including academic papers, books and conference papers
