WEST LINDSEY PARISH #128: FISKERTON
Hello folks. For the last couple of years, the Lincolnshire district of West Lindsey has been a Monday staple on your screens. I know today’s a Saturday, but there was no way on Earth I was putting anything else out for the last episode of the year. For the 128th and final time, we are in West Lindsey – and the last one on the list is the other village where I lived before moving away from the area.
For six years I lived in Fiskerton, a small village that lies to the North of the River Witham, on the district boundary with North Kesteven. It’s about five miles from the centre of Lincoln, and the around the same distance from Bardney. Here I’ve done my best to show you pretty much every single street. I may have gone a little overboard in places actually! There’s so much I could tell you about my own experiences living here – but if I did that it would go against everything you already know me for. So instead, over the next hour, it’ll be a mixture of both history and personal memories. Most of the history comes from two books, given to me by my own mother, who still lives in the village.
This route took me four hours to follow. Under normal circumstances a village of this size might only have taken me one, maybe one and half, maximum. But I love it. No matter where I travel, far and wide, this is my home, and I want to share it all with you.
For the final time in West Lindsey, let’s walk
