Donald Trump tore up memos and documents while in office in violation of the Presidential Records Act. Trump also had White House documents he kept after leaving office at his resort in Florida. Daniel Goldman, who served as the House Impeachment inquiry majority counsel for Trump’s first impeachment, joins Lawrence O’Donnell to discuss the message the Justice Department sends to future presidents if the Presidential Records Act isn’t enforced.

It's interesting. You might have been able to argue that he ripped them up out of ignorance. Or if it was just one box of records. But not 15 boxes. That throws deniability out the window. This was criminal activity.

Garland needs to do the right thing. This affects the future of this country. Also tarnished the history. These people are not above the law. They actually should be held to a higher standard.

For someone who says he's got nothing to hide Trump sure works hard at not being open and transparent with the American people.

What's amazing to me me is how he was able to leave with these things without being stopped by the marines or u.s. Marshals. How the door was locked after he left. How after Him Acosta posted a picture of him stealing a bust from the white house, why he wasn't stopped, searched & seized at maralago. What kind of country are we running here?

How can the USA accept all the criminality that has been displayed in the last over 5 years?

At minimum, MINIMUM, he should never be allowed to run for office again!

He's a crook, plain and simple. Were you or I to commit 5% of Trump's crimes, we'd be in jail by now.

Mar-A-Lardo needs to be reminded how he whined about Hillary deleting emails and Pelosi ripping up his speech.

Remember "But her emails..."?

"WHAT'S HE HIDING?" should be the new rallying cry for Americans everywhere.

There's no excuse for the DOJ. How much more has to be brought to light about this crook. The rest of us would have already been locked up and had the key thrown away.

Somehow Trump keeps setting the bar higher in being a criminal beyond comprehension.

Garland has been a disappointment when with his appointment we thought he was a saviour and that justice would be done. Instead we are left guessing about his resolve and principles. Elevated to hero status under Obama he now seems less than ordinary and not the extraordinary we thought he would bring.

How often in America does an inconvenient "law", subpoena, etc get ignored by powerful people, without ANY CONSEQUENCE? If you cannot enforce laws, for everybody, then either redesign them to be so, or forget about the Rule of Law in America. Ignoring laws is such a regular occurrence in the USA, it's not surprising the country is falling apart at the seams.

15 boxes that weren't destroyed yet. Probably never know how many are gone for good. Wouldn't be surprised if he had Shred-It on speed dial his last few months in office.

*"OBSTRUCT!"...* The one word that describes the entire four years of the Trump presidency.

Depending on their contents, surely some of that document destruction could constitute obstruction of justice.
