'THE REGIMENT OF TREES' in LANGLEY VALE WOOD

It’s a Gloriously Sunny Day and I’m out for a Walk around Langley Vale Wood near Epsom Downs for a look at the World War 1 Installations ‘The Regiment of Trees’ and ‘Witness’. Commissioned by The Woodland Trust to Commemorate Lord Kitchener’s Inspection of Troops on Epsom Downs in January 1915, the Installation has 12 Figures which stand among a mix of Native Broadleaf Trees. After another quick look around St Mary’s Church nearby, I have a lovely Pub Lunch back at ‘The Cock Inn’ in Headley.

Interesting memorial at Langley. I am guessing the regimented tree planting amidst the statues may have some relevance ? The wooden sculpture was very cool. Would be interesting to see how it weathers and changes with age..

I must go and take a look at the centenary wood - the sculptures look fascinating! I reckon if I go in early May I might get the blossom?
