The logic behind Nedum and Burley's thinking is lacking. Bayern don't just need to do "better" than last season, they need to do a lot better. It wasn't a close title race, Leverkusen outclassed Bayern. And Bayer Leverkusen, it seems, got to keep all their important players. And there's Kompany - maybe he's talented and very intelligent, but he lacks the experience of Tuchel. I think Leverkusen are favourites to win the title this season.

It's frustrating when pundits fixate on a player’s performance during a single tournament while overlooking their consistent achievements at the club level. Harry Kane's struggles during the Euros had more to do with tactical shortcomings and the team around him rather than any individual dip in form. Bayern saw his value as a striker and paid top money for him because of what he's consistently brought to the pitch, particularly in the Bundesliga. One rough tournament doesn’t suddenly make him a weak link, and Bayern isn’t in "trouble" because of it.

As for Bayern's position among Europe's elite, it's true that they, alongside Real Madrid, have been remarkably consistent in avoiding the long-term downfalls seen at clubs like AC Milan, Inter, Barcelona, and others. Their ability to continuously rebuild, maintain dominance domestically, and challenge in Europe year after year reflects superior management and strategy. It’s almost as if these clubs are held to an unrealistic standard simply because they haven't gone through a slump like others have.

Bayern, with their possession-heavy, attacking playstyle, have continued to evolve, and it's this ability to adapt and stay ahead that keeps them among the top two or three clubs in Europe. It's just easy for the media to be pessimistic because of how high the expectations are.
