So, if I'm understanding things correctly:
0. Culture War BS has completely destroyed all focus on real issues to instead focus on bogeymen, left the UK political system struggling to focus on addressing those real issues, and made it impossible to safely talk about any aspects of these without severe toxicity and hate.
1. Responding to widespread and justified criticism by medical professionals around the world, the BMA decided to object to the Cass review and were planning how to respond.
2. This objection was not universal amongst their council, and rather than acting like professionals, one or more of them leaked this to the press.
3. This forced the BMA to put down their medical hats and instead put on their political ones, changing the wording of their response to better safeguard against the culture war media circus.
4. The media, of course, sees this watering down as a circus in it's own right to jeer about the internal strifes within the BMA
5. The BMA, acting entirely reasonably for a professional body, is not happy about their internal discussions being leaked prior to formal release. Such leaks seriously affect the ability for organisations like the BMA to operate, and rightly they want to address this event.
6. In response to the BMA wanting to enforce the code of conduct their council members must follow, the leakers or their allies then go to the press again about this.
7. The press, given new juicy story details around a culture war subject, write articles about how this is clearly the fault of the trans activists in the BMA ruining things and making them 'political'.

I am utterly sick of the headlines along the lines of "leopards eating faces party supporters are upset that their faces are being eaten by leopards, trans people are to blame!". The real issues affecting women, kids, working class folk, and so on are just being shunted into a corner so that a small minority of strangely obsessed folks can have their little circus, distracting the media absorbing public from all of the real issues.

Very good video. Just wanted to ask if the smoking ban is a culture war argument? 😊

Cass wrote a serious, thorough, objective review, using appropriate methodology. It's being taken seriously by medical authorities around the world. The hostile reaction to Cass has come from political organisations like Stonewall and by trans advocates operating within other organisations who think they're experts. They are the culture warriors and they were trying to pull a fast one at the BMA. They were rumbled.
The reason Streeting and Starmer backed Cass at once is because they could see that Cass was serious, and saw a big fast train coming down the tracks towards them. If the protocols being used at GIDS to treat children with gender distress were to continue because the government folded to activists, it would be the government and Labour who took the blame for the huge medical scandal that could ensue, not the self appointed authorities at Stonewall or BMA LGBTQ+ advocates.
So you're right to ignore "Culture Wars", because, in the UK at least, they're not real, they're just an accusation that gets hurled by people losing a real argument. The real argument here if how to treat children with gender distress and that medical argument is being ignored by the Culture Warriors of the "Left" - who are no friends of this, or any other Labour government.
