BTS were literally offered exemption but, they personally chose to join the military. So idk why some Armys are being weird.

If I’m not mistaken, BTS themselves could’ve received exemptions but they willingly chose to still serve. They’re really cool dudes and just remember that K-Pop in general has a massive global following so of course you’ll have a group of reactionary fans who act weird as hell, most of which are underaged and still have a lot to mature. Nothing to take seriously tbh.

So as a Korean, my theory as to why BTS did is because they are specifically K-POP Idols. Many fans are probably unaware of who Yoo Seung Joon is but he was a hugely popular idol in the early 2000s who dodged his military conscription by naturalizing as a US citizen. Now that itself may have been frowned upon but what really screwed him was that he LIED to the Korean public that he would be honored to serve, having a huge farewell party the eve of his enlistment. He boarded a flight for the USA the next day. As a result, he received a lifetime entry ban from Korea, Korean severely tightened laws regarding military service, and no KPop idol has gotten away with not doing their military service, OR received an exemption, FOR ANY REASON, since. BTS wouldn’t risk the bad PR over not doing military service. The elder Korean public would crucify them and the government is staunchly against issuing exemptions to celebrities since the Yoo fiasco.

As Kpop fans too, i much respected faker rather than BTS, they r different in terms of trophies, Faker having Gold Medal while 'Serving his country' by playing in Asian Games, but BTS they got trophies by awards and Hallyu Wave didnt even came from BTS, there's Super Junior Era, BigBang Era and SNSD, if BTS got exception from the military mandatory service, how other's group who already server the mandatory service will react eventho they already bring hallyu wave to all around the world??

Being fans of both BTS and T1 I’m jst pissed with this new fans of BTS kids dnt understand that this is the law in korea if u want BTS members to not serve in the army jst go ask the Asian games or Olympic to add dance and singing category so they can earn medals and exempt the military. As a BTS fan I will not associate myself with the small minority of "fans" who go on the internet and attack random people like this. It's not what most of ARMY want and it's not what BTS themselves want and these toxic people should be ashamed and also- what are they complaining about? Indeed, BTS wre, at least quite surprisingly to me, not exempted from military service but all the members also said they wanted to serve and all of them are willingly going through with it. Massive congratulations to Faker!
