I think this scene has a symbolic meaning. I didn’t see the show or even heard about it before but I can imagine, by the way she plays, using the y of the word scary that his opponent used and thought was a great play, that she has a selfish way to act where she satisfies herself by using those qualities others value in order to destroy them just the way an martial artists used someone’s strength in order to make them fall down.
