Did VW go to the old parts bin for the radio. I had that in my 7 year old GTI

You just can't beat a good old fashioned automatic transmission for smooth driving. I've never been impressed by dsg transmissions. First gear from a stop is always lagging, just when you really need to go like merging from a stop sign.

We don’t have any issues with the DSG in our Taos SEL. Maybe it’s our experience with VW’s DSG in other cars we’ve owned, maybe it’s our history of driving manuals, no idea. VW did drop the ball with the DSG programming in the Taos replace to its other vehicles with the DSG, so I don’t know what they were thinking there. But anyway, replacing the DSG with a torque converter automatic is a smart move. Otherwise, we’ve had no issues with our Taos and it’s served us well.

Funny, I have no issues with my 2024 Taos SE with the DCT. In town I just take off gently through the first two gears and after that it’s nice and smooth. Get it out of town and damn, that dual clutch is a blast to drive.
I have to say, I’m not a fan of the updated look. I think the original was better looking. And having physical controls beat the pants off the new touch controls. And I HATE the new touch screen location. It looked much better integrated into the dash.
I’ll reserve judgement on the engine improvements. We’ll see how it holds up.

I miss my 2012 Jetta Sportwagon. Loved that car, but my wife kept hitting curbs with it. Got her an H3.

I like they got rid of the DCT, and added more power, but it's not as attractive anymore. They ruined the front.

But most importantly, have they fixed the head gasket issue?! Our ‘24 is in the shop for a bad head gasket. This seems to be a big issue on the Taos. VW reliability has gone downhill.

Glad to see they're starting to get rid of the DSG, Leased a lot od DSG VW's and never really thought it was a good idea. Also wondering about the head gasket issue and if it's been corrected?

The green is nice. I've been saying the way you compete with Tesla and other companies that offer few colors is to offer different ones. The HP and transmission improvement is huge. That's about the same HP as a Chevy Equinox and that's a much bigger vehicle.

Nice colors. Under hood needs a buffer for sound dampening and don’t like digital cockpit! Why oh why does everyone need digital. Analog is fine.

This refresh looks great outside. I love that they're offering some fun colors. The interior is much improved, but that climate touch system is hot trash. Physical buttons are always better. Also hot trash is the 1.5L turbo engine that's been giving people problems for a few years now. Hopefully, VW fixed the issues.

Can you confirm the led light bar is present on the front of both the SEL and SE Black?

I agree with the new transmission excitement! I work for a VW store and the current car is so jerky and terrible to drive that this should be a major update and make it feel like a new car.

Thinking about HR-V, Ford Escape or Tiguan from 2013. None of the elements of this 2025 Taos seem different from any of those 10+ year old car. Only benefits of buying it is its warranty and mileage.
