It's not exactly clear to me about "shade". You mention 3 to 4 hours of sun is shade. You don't talk about total shade with only ambient light. Also, the soil seems to be quite important like it is for any plant. How do you make the soil better? You say "well-draining". How? How about nitrogen fixation?
