Automatic bird feeders | Seed hoppers are they worth the money ?

With the price of supplies going up are seed hoppers worth the investment ? In this video will take a look at some of the pros and cons to them and what I personally use in my aviary.

Great show as always! I just wanted to add a comment: Seed moth at 4:05 - enough reason not to use the seed hoppers with baskets. Another is that small finches, like Goulds, will husk the seed inside the bucket containing the fresh seed (it won't make it to the hull basket), thereby preventing access to the fresh seed. I have also observed my chicks actually resting inside the seed area, using it like a stress perch. If people are using breeding cages the same size as yours, I believe their best option is what you recommended. If you have the space in your cage, you could provide separate seed cups for the various varieties of seed, since companies like Morning Bird now sell seed varieties separately. That way, birds can access their favorites without waste.

Freeze your bird seed overnight and it will eliminate 100% of the moths. I was constantly dealing with tons of moths in the seed mix I fed my African Grey. Once I started freezing each new bag before opening it I haven’t had a single moth.

I have finches. These cover the seed with husk they peel off. Can I leave it like that for two days, without blowing it away on a daily basis?

I used other seeds hopper but my birds waste seeds and emty hopper in a day 😢
