have you ever thought about putting a drain in the pond? I don't know, it seems you could use one of the bamboo poles and run it away from the pool maybe back to the river or somewhere it wouldn't bother anything. That way you could let some water out and put more back so as to keep the water clean, and also for the pond so the fish can breath...
