In today’s video we are checking out my new favorite battery-powered/portable speaker by Electro Voice. This is the Everse 8 and I love this speaker so much, I’m ditching my old battery powered setup. This has so many smart designs features about it, and I’m going to go over it to see if it’s right for huge. Huge thanks to Sweetwater for sponsoring and sending me this for the channel. I am a DJ and I bought an EV Everse 8 and you should know that it is a powerful speaker and the sound quality is spectacular. I recommend it 100%.

Best demonstration of the EV 8 so far. Thanks a lot. I am planning to get this next month.

Thanks Scott - great video as always. I’ve been looking to go battery-powered, and this was the right nudge. Used your link, looking forward to it!

Hey Scott! I follow you and keep up with all of your videos. I'm a big fan! However, this video was extra special. I'm an old guy but for the past few decades, I've been associated with EV as a designer and user via the rep firm I worked for. I, of course, have lots of EV gear and my main system is the Evolve 50. I reviewed the Everse 8 when EV released it and at that point, I figured they had another winner and as you and others have shown, they do! I just want to thank you for your review of this outstanding product and I hope your readers and subscribers really come to understand this product as it not only has great features but when one considers its SPL capabilities as a battery powered speaker, there simply is no comparison. I hope you may consider reviewing other EV products such as their mics and wireless products. I use the RE520, RE420, RE20 and the N/D 868. I also have their Zx1's and the rare SB2a subs. I would suggest looking at the RE3 wireless as it can broadcast uniquely via the 600Mhz band. Very handy! And FYI, because of your reviews, I am a Phenyx Pro and Stage Traxx 3 user! Thanks again Scott!

I own two of these. I can't be happier. You're not lying when you say it's the best.

Incredible review, Scott. Those are Sweet upgrades. I’m still digging One of the in ear monitor systems you recommended. I used affiliate links of course. Now a friend is ready to buy as well. Thanks again

This system looks absolutely awesome!
I have been using a Roland Street Cube EX for about four or five years, and I really like it, but it lacks Bluetooth. I really like the weather resistant options on the EV system, and the tray for the top is simple genius. The guys on the product design team for EV hit a home run!
Great video, Scott! I always learn a lot from you!

I keep stumbling on your reviews and you've quickly become a trusted voice. It's so hard to find people who aren't just schills to get free gear from sponsors. We have similar taste. My main rig is built around an HX Stomp and my go-to PA speakers are EVs. I have ETX-15Ps. The Everse 8 is definitely my next acquisition!

Watched this as a very, very happy owner of the Everse 8 (for acoustic solo and duo performances using an extra pedalboard for guitar plus extra channels such as stompbox and BeatBuddy via a StompMix 4 mini mixer). It‘s every bit as brilliant as you point out, and I say that coming from the Bose S1 Pro, which I‘ve enjoyed using for many years. The Everse 8, however, is in an entirely different league. It reaches deeper down in frequency, has a much more transparent and authentic treble region (which tends to be comparatively a bit harsh without EQ, but it has plenty of EQ options to tame that), and it offers tons more control over every parameters, plus compression and built-in reverb you can actual tweak. There is no reason at all to get a Bose S1 Pro anymore, unless of course you prefer its Bose signature sound, which is warm and a bit muffled by comparison, or like its slightly smaller form factor better. I‘ll probably still hold onto my Bose just as an extra floor wedge, or to expand my one-speaker Everse E8 setup if and when needed. I figure it won‘t net me much cash if I try to sell it nowadays, especially since the retail price has plummeted since the release of the Everse 8. P.S.: The clarity of the Everse reminds me a lot of my old Mackie SRM 450 powered speakers (the ones that used to have the Italian chassis built in, before Mackie started to use the Chinese ones): Very transparent and true-to-life with just a wee bit of EQing. I found I can once again use my higher-end mics because you can actually hear there subtle differences - the ones that got lost on the Bose S1 Pro, with its tendency to press its (admittedly pleasant) sound signature on everything.

Replay!!! Thorough as you can be!!! Well done Scott! I held off in buying any more battery powered speakers because I didn’t want them to just around while not being used if the power at and event goes out. Out of the two options, I was advised to go with this one the utmost versatility in what I can use it for.

Wow !!! Man do I feel like a dinosaur… I’m still using my very heavy old amp with my mixer board. Great video on this powered speaker. 500 w And light weight.. thats a wow factor too. Thank you doing a review….. and yes, had that rain conversation a few times and someone always has 4 x4 tarp to cover over all the equipment and band.. lol 😂😂😂

Awesome video! Thank you for the detailed run through of the speaker. Really helps with deciding on which speaker to buy!

On the subject of "We're just going to hope for the best"… I was playing on a cruise ship (private cruise) a long time ago, and they'd set up a giant party for the last night on the back deck. Rain kept looking more and more likely, and we could see giant thunderheads on the horizon. The crew kept saying, "Cap'n says it's not going to rain" and they were trying to convince us to set up. I finally had to be the "bad guy" and said no. My band members looked at me as if I'd really screwed the pooch… and then thirty minutes later, the deluge was unbelievable. WHEW!

Scott, I’m reviewing this video again as I’ve been testing out new ways of using it for wireless ceremony audio with an analog or digital board.

What prompted this was how I can create the same battery-powered and wireless environment as the Alpha Theta Wave8 speaker which uses a proprietary box to communicate using 5.1ghz.

I did this two different ways using the Aux Send post fade and Main Outs of each board with the SLXD portable system you reviewed. Two systems are needed for this test and works flawlessly. I tried the same thing with older Shure UHF-R UR5 receivers and UR1 transmitters without any issues too.

Just wanted to share my findings with using two of these speakers and the versatility of these wireless systems! Cheers!!

Just got one a couple weeks ago, and it’s great! Light weight, and has been plenty loud so far! Only thing I wish I could do, is use different effects on each channel. Would love to apply some delay to the guitar channel only.
