Once the misfires & rattling stopped and those 6 cylinders started popping together, it immediately transformed into a sweet music to my hears. Gosh I could listen this engine run at idle for hours ! I just love that big ol' diesel truck sound, these low RPMs, mechanical injectors noises, puffs of smokes outta the exhaust, raw power, damn Tesla drivers r really missing something.

I used to work for British Telecom in the 1980’s and during autumn, winter and half of springtime every single Monday morning from the depot there was a chorus of sounds just like in this video. Struggling starter motors, the smell of smoke, unburnt diesel fumes - I remember it like it was yesterday.

Old school diesel, they all started this way when cold. No dpf, no def, no computer control. They were reliable, more like bulletproof. Then big government got involved. Now the big money involving trucking is in towing. Invest half million in a tow rig, you'll be very busy.

The reason they stopped trying and let it sit shortly after the first try does two things. First it lets heat soak into the combustion chamber created from friction and/or combustion if even one cylinder fired. The other reason is it let's the batteries recover a small amount which allows a slightly faster tickover on next try. Faster start RPMs in a diesel = more compression. Compression in a diesel is your best friend.

Most two cycle Detriots have a factory Ether injection coldstart button & no glow plugs..

Must be a Series 60, i was expecting a grumpy 2-stroke. Still sounds good, good engine too.
