I’ve tried searing with the Searzall, with a small propane grill, and tonight I tried the charcoal chimney starter. The charcoal chimney is the best!

Please never stop making videos! Love watching the three of you.
Kindest regards all the way from Sweden.

There’s no way to convince me that the chimney starter is not the best way to sear a steak after sous vide. When allowed to preheat for at least 10 minutes, you get a super quick, beautiful sear with grill marks that look like the photos in a gourmet cookbook! Super quick is the key so you don’t ruin the result you you were after in the first place. The chimney starter should be in the finals guys. You know it!! You guys are the best though. I still love you.

Do a three way experiment with chimney grill and flamethrower as this one was so hard for everyone to decide on

One of the disadvantages of sous vide cooking is that it does not give a good sear in fear of overcooking the meat. A solution to that is to chill the steaks prior to searing. Would love to see a video comparison of 2 steaks:
1. Sous vide, then sear (traditional method)
vs
2. Sous vide, chilled in ice bath for 2 mins/refrigerator for mins, then sear

No matter what the result the flame thrower offers instant heat and almost instant sear. Flavor profile using charcoal may be a little better but it is slow. Can't wait for the results next week. Great job men, love the channel!

I bought a Flamethrower over the weekend and did sous vide steaks. Amazing! I used it on sous vide chicken breast for the first time tonight. Very good but not a steak. Still moist. Did the chicken at 140 degrees for 2 hours. Looking forward to the final round!

My wife and I love the channel, guys. We bought two sous vide machines after binging your archives. Now we're hoping for the flamethrower to win, not because we're likely to get one, but just because it seems the coolest. Plus, I like the look of the flamethrower seared steak best.

Glad that you finally settled on 129 degrees!! That’s a wonderful temp for keeping rare to medium rare after you sear. However, I like to use an enameled cast iron ribbed skillet pan to sear - beautiful sear lines. Chimney starter was also good for me, but too much work and rigmarole. Love the videos guys- you guys are AMAZING!

Great video guys! I think it would be a good idea to have a timer running in the corner while watching you sear on each device to see the time it took as well, I know flavor is the ultimate factor but there might be a time constraint as well for some of us, which would help us decide which to use as well for those new to Sous Vide cooking!

You should do the final blindfolded so you can’t tell what is what with the grill marks. Love the videos can’t wait for the next one!!!

Hey @SousVideEverything. We're gunna vote for the Weber. Although the flamethrower looks, in Ninja's words "Amazing", the char on that Weber imparts an extra kick of flavor. Btw we love watching your videos so much, we now have 3 generations watching your Channel and we love your cooking. Best around.

I wouldn't call what the webber did a 'sear' anymore - look how cooked it became! It's medium-welldone at best. You just want a super thin crust for your sear, not more cooking! The chimney starter looked way better.

It’s no longer just a YouTube channel, it’s the SVE Community! Can’t wait for the finals. I’ve got my money on Ninja picking the Weber

The final should be a blind taste test. The grill marks make it a mental thing. I think the flame thrower will win. Great videos guys!!
