When you mentioned how many years apart each older hand-held console was, it made me really grateful for what they're doing now, you know, waiting 5-8 years before releasing a completely new console so the current one can have ample time to flourish.

I have spent many hours (and batteries) on these hand held series, they have been there for so much fun and memories.
You nailed it about the 3ds, it had a function I never used and was more ports than new games.

Now this is something I know a lot about, having owned all of them. I love Nintendo handhelds. For me: 1.switch, 2. 3ds, 3. Ds, 4. Gba, 5. Gbc, 6. Gb.
Nintendo handhelds just keep getting better over time.

My favorite of the systems had to be the GBA. While I love RPGs, I love Metroidvania games the most. With Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion and the slew of Castlevania games, for me it's a no brainer.
Luckily i still have my Gamecube GamePlayer.

Game Boy was my first portable, not counting the Game&Watch that we should have kept, where did they go? It made the summer trips 120 kilometers up north and then back down two months later, easier. Agree on the list, fine video as usual my good man!

Great list i'm right with you on this accept in my opinion I like GBA just a bit more than the DS just due to it being able to play on a tv and it felt like a budget SNES at least it use to be. I love your content thanks for giving me something good to listen to while I do my boring job.

Good list! The Gameboy would be a little lower for me but that's probably because I was very late to the party with the Gameboy (I didn't get one until after the GBA had already been released if I remember correctly).

Fun fact: The New 3DS 3d doesn't work properly if you wear glasses with particularly strong lenses as I found out after buying one to play Xenoblade!

I love my DS. Only handheld I've practically worn out. Need to get a new one as one of the shoulder buttons started acting up. Loved that it didn't eat AA batteries and could also replace my original non-backlit GBA that I bought weeks before they announced the first backlit GBA.

The GBA and 3DS are my favorite handhelds. I never had a GBA, but I played the games on my DS. The GBA brought us cool games like Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, ports of DOOM and DOOM 2, and remakes of the classic games such as Super Mario Bros. 3 and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I've been wanting to get one.

Now the 3DS... It gave us good games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, remakes of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask, Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition, and a lot more.

I wish I could go back to the good old days when I had my original 3DS and my DS.

Completely agree here. The DS not just in RPG's was by far the most creative and unique. So much variety, quality and quantity. Incredible. Really made the rest look bad in comparison.

Good list for the nes handheld systems. Definitely saw 3 of my favorite games in the list mother3, final fantasy adventure, and Lufia.

I can understand why people would overlook the GameBoy Color. The CPU was a bit better but a lot of gameboy color games ran on the original gameboy (I'd know, I got pokemon trading card game and played it on my original fat gameboy). Plus, at that time, it seemed like Nintendo released a new iteration of the gameboy like every year. There was the original fat gameboy, then the gameboy pocket then the colored gameboys which are gameboys that just have a different color other than gray and I'm sure people confused that with the eventual release of the gameboy color, this time the games were in color and not just the handheld itself.

For me, it's between the Gameboy Advance/3DS for my favorite Nintendo handheld. I do think you brought up some interesting points about the 3DS though. The Gameboy Advance is the one I keep coming back to though because of its backwards compatibility and SNES style library.
