It's also easier to take a sword to your training location, particularly if you're using public transport.

Most people find swords to be cooler than pole arms because of various media influences and as such they focus on swords

Also it's easier to train indoors with a sword. Also easier to train more people with swords. For instance in my dojo, we can have 30 people training doing kendo, but maybe only 12 doing naginata.

Nothing quite says "sword armies are unrealistic" as well as "we put on show fights with swords because polearms are too dangerous."

I feel hema is just for non armor and for slashing and more war fair fights it’s armored because war weapons are more Dangerous
