Lola (the grandma)

Anna (the girl that was trapped - the oldest child)
Zoe (the girl with magic )

There are two families against each other. The Brookstones and the Minervas. The most popular and powerfull families in town.

In both families, powerful magic passes from the parent, to the oldest child.

In the Minerva family, the mother of the 5 children died before she could pass her powers to Anna. And their grandma took them under her protection.

She didn't know what to do. Both of the oldest children in both families were adults, and had to compete one another soon. And the magic died with the Klara. (the mother of the children)

But then, she remembered that her step granddaughter, Zoe, had a magic necklace. She first thought to take it from her, and give it to Anna. But then she remembered that it only works from people from Zoe's family. So Lola told her to fight. Zoe refused.

The reasons were two:
1: She was afraid
2: She didn't know how to control her magic

All she knows, is that it's dangerous. Her brothers and sisters didn't pressure her. But Lola was furious, and scared. If her family didn't compete, then they would be seen as cowards. So she used a spell to hypnotise the others. But for some reason it didn't work on Anna. So she lock her in the basement.

Lucky for Anna, the rope was old and she got free easily. But the hard part was the door. She managed to open it, but when she did, it was too late.

I made a story inspired by this!

I yelled, helplessly, “Stop! You can’t do this!” My pitch-black hair dripped over my face. I couldn’t do anything. My hands were chained to the wall.

Standing in front of me were two of my siblings, Jonathan—my twin brother, we were the oldest. He had dark curly hair with emerald green eyes. He has a huge interest in music.  And our sister—Anna, the creativity of the family. She was an amazing artist. Alongside them was my Gramma—she desired power and used her gifts to benefit only herself. I couldn’t believe this. I trusted all of them. They know of the dangers.

drop, drip, drop. The basement was moist as water dripped on in. We were doomed. They wouldn’t listen. By now I had tears running down my face.

The sound of children laughing was heard from above us. They were safe. My younger siblings, Olivia and Asher. Oliva was a year older than Asher was, but they got along perfectly. Asher always made her laugh when even cracking a joke in the darkest time.    

“Anna.” There it was. The echo in her voice. My siblings weren’t helping her by choice, but instead against their own will. Gramma never told us her abilities; she didn’t need to, not anymore. It was clear. She was a Hypto. Short for a Hypnotic, a person who had the ability to force you to do whatever they ask by the echo in their words, “It’s time.”  

Smiles started to creep onto their faces. They planned something. Something to take down the Carters. The Carters was the only other family granted the gift of powers, like my family—the Reyes. This caused rivalry and hatred between the two families. Each believed that one family was destined to overthrow the other. My siblings, Zach—who was a Carter and the love of my life— and I believed that we were meant to join forces and create harmony with each other.  

After finding the truth that we each have powers created from The Bond, the tie between the families. And the secret that our families have been keeping from us is that if we fight, it’ll be declared war, breaking The Bond and causing havoc throughout the universe.  

The children’s laughing stopped and went to silence. A rumble of crashing toys hit the floor shook the ceiling above us, “Ash?! What are you doing?!” I heard Liv scream. Which made their smiles widen. And it hit me. Asher was under the same spell they were, “Hey- hey! Let me go!!” Liv yelled again.

“What are you going to do with her?!” I yelled and they all stared at me. Smiles slowly fading on Jon and Anna’s face. But Gramma’s was still glowing brightly.  

“She’s the one. She is gonna be the one to finally secure our victory against those…” Gramma continued, “Carters.” She said foully, as if saying the name left a bad taste on her togue.  

“What are you talking about?” I was clueless. She’s just a 10-year-old girl. Powers don’t start developing until your 13th birthday.  

“The gift your mom left her with.” Her smirk grew wider as she thought about the first time she met all of us, specifically Liv.  

I thought for a moment. We all received a gift from our mom who passed when Asher was still a toddler. She gave Jon her guitar that she used to sing lullabies with, I got her journal that was filled with pictures of the places she went and handwritten descriptions of the things she saw.  Anna received all her art supplies; she’s made beautiful paintings since then. Mom didn’t know Liv and Ash well since they were still young. But she gave Ash a watch. I always see him wearing it, he says it’s the only thing he has to remember her. Unlike Ash, Liv can remember some things about mom and keeps her necklace close to her. The necklace mom gave her. The necklace.  

“What does her necklace have to do with anything?” I wanted a clear answer. I knew I didn’t have much time to interrogate them. Ash was about to do something to Liv and I didn’t know why.  

Gramma shook her head, “I was sure you knew.” She started, “The necklace traps the world’s dark energy.”

I paused. Before our time an object was created to consume the evilness of the world and whoever owned it was considered the guardian. My mom must’ve trusted her a ton to have given her that. If it gets into the wrong hands it could be dangerous. Like my Gramma’s, “You can’t! She’s just a child!” I screamed, I tried to pull out of the chains.  

Gramma was going to convince her to free the energy inside and use Liv as a host. I couldn’t let that happen. Please.  

“Just a child, indeed.” She smiled, “C’mon.”We’ve got someone waiting for us.”  They all turned their backs to me. I couldn’t let them leave that easily.  

“Jon, Anna, please.” They stopped walking. But they didn’t face me, “You can’t let her do this.”  

Anna almost turned to face me, but Jon stopped her, “We have no choice, Izzy.” He said shaking his head.  

 Izzy. He hasn’t called me that since mom passed. I couldn’t tell if it was really him speaking or it was something he had to say. But, I didn’t have enough time to ask other question because Jon and Anna walked away. It was going to happen. The War.  

My powers were useless. They wouldn’t help free me. Right before I drowned into despair a voice of hope ran into the room.  

“Isa?!” It was Zach, “Thank goodness I found you!” He said as he broke off my chains. I was freed. “Your sister—”  

I put my hand in front of his mouth, “I know.” I continued, “We need a plan. It’s just the two of us. None of my siblings are able to help…” I paused as Zach looked at me worriedly, “We need to get your family in on this.”

Zach thought I was crazy, “Have you gone mad?” He spoke loudly with his English accent, “They’d rather lose all their powers than help us!”  

He wasn’t wrong, “True. But they get to fight The Reyes.” I shrugged, “They might accept then.”  

Zach sighed, “Fine. But only because I’d do anything for you, my love.” He smiled at me.

I shooed him off, “Yeah, yeah.” I started, “Now come on! We don’t have much time.” I said as we ran.
