The thing is...
Nureyev treated people the way HE wanted to be treated
( passion with violence)
Clearly, he was not conversant with Christian civilization...episodes in his life attest that he did not hate Christian civilization ...
it just did not speak to his passions or to his philosophy (notice his chosen ending to Swan Lake: a most violent triumph of evil)

I find consoling that M. Nureyev was taken into Eternity on 6 January, The Feast of the Epiphany. God willing, it is a signal grace that he found the Beauty & Perfection that he was always seeking.
