Follow this simple steps..a. locate the y intercept of first equation by letting x=0. .b.determine slope of this line. . c. determine the slope of the perpendicular line passing to the y intercept which is the negative reciprocal of the first line. d. establish the equation of that perpendicular line using slope intercept form y = mx + b...e . determine the point of intersection of the perpendicular line with the 2nd line by solving values for x and y. f. Using the distance formula compute the distance using values of x and y at the point of intersection and at y intercept respectively.

it is a good way to learn and remember - pity enough that I was educated by simply remembering various formulas in high school and by some means in university! I decide to reeducated myself!
